People have often wondered what the festive season in the world’s most secretive and isolated regime, North Korea, is actually like and a man who grew up in North Korea but later escaped has described what Christmas in his homeland is like.
The short answer is that Christmas in North Korea is something of a non-event. Millions of children all over the world have heard of Santa Claus but for those in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea he's not even a mythological figure; they have never even heard of him. No wonder US tabloids brand Kim Jong-un the "Grinch who stole Christmas".
The Trump administration says it has negotiated a significant cut in the United Nations budget to the United Nation.
The U.S. Mission to the United Nations said on Sunday that the U.N.'s 2018-2019 budget would be slashed by over $285 million, which is 25% of what they give to the U.N. The mission said reductions would also be made to the U.N.'s management and support functions.

Halima, one of the daughters of President Muhammadu Buhari, says her father told her that she must study hard because he has nothing to offer than education.
Halima said this while speaking in a video documentary titled ‘The Human Side of President Buhari’.
The 55-minute video, put together by the media and publicity department of the state, had ministers, aides of the president, and other members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) talking about how their feelings on Buhari’s management style, reception to counsel and his major strength.

Nile Niami, a producer-turned-developer is the man behind the most expensive house in America. The house is so enormous and so absurdly lavish that the list price for it is nearly five times the price of the most expensive home ever to sell in Los Angeles — that's a tie between the Playboy Mansion, which sold in 2016, and a speculatively built home in Holmby Hills that sold for $100 million last year.

Actress Heather Menzies-Urich, who played one of the singing von Trapp children in the hit 1965 film, “The Sound of Music,” has died. She was 68.
Her son, actor Ryan Urich, told Variety that his mother died late Sunday in Frankford, Ontario. She recently had been diagnosed with brain cancer.
“She was an actress, a ballerina and loved living her life to the fullest,” Urich said.

Today, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, increased the supply of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, across the country from 30 million litres to 80 million litres per day.
In a statement released in Abuja, the NNPC disclosed that the hike in the product supply became necessary after the current hiccup in fuel supply was noticed few days back. It added that the increase would ensure that the fuel crisis comes to an end this week.

An Ikeja High Court on Friday discharged and acquitted Ifeanyi Igwe, a fashion designer, of the charge of conspiracy and attempted robbery four years after his first arraignment.
Igwe’s freedom came on Friday after being incarcerated for four years.Justice Raliatu Adebiyi on Friday found Igwe, in his late 20s, not guilty of a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery.
The judge said Igwe’s acquittal followed the prosecution’s inability to prove its case against Igwe.
Adebiyi held that “the evidence of sole witness in the case, Sgt. Augustine Okodo, the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) gave no evidence of the fact that nothing was stolen, there was also no evidence from the alleged victim.

The acting Public Affairs Officer of the United States Consulate in this country, Kevin Krapf, referred to the issue during the commemoration of World AIDS Day in the Nigerian city of Lagos.
The Chief Judge of Anambra, Peter Umeadi, on Tuesday discharged a 31-year-old prison inmate, Chukwujekwu Ifejika, who had been in Onitsha Prison for seven years without trial.
In his ruling during his yearly visit to prisons in the state, Mr. Umeadi said that Mr. Ifejika was discharged for lack of criminal record or case file in an alleged case of armed robbery.
According to him, the suspect has been in prison custody for seven years without any hearing in court.

On Friday 1 December 2017 will be World AIDS Day where awareness will be created about the HIV/AIDS virus, treatment, prevention and ways of being transmitted.
Nigeria has one of the highest percentages of HIV/AIDS patients in the African continent and World AIDS Day is a great opportunity to enlighten people of how HIV/AIDS can be transmitted from an infected person.
